Our Senses issue is the antidote to even the most jaded palate, as we’ve searched high and low to find contributors with the power to make us appreciate the world anew. We’ve got exclusive discussions with multi-sensory experts including Omer Arbel of Bocci lighting, scent archivist Sissel Tolaas, colour expert Pedro da Costa Felgueiras, product designer Russell Pinch and fragrance maker Lyn Harris.

Richard Benson braves storms and high seas to explore the people and the landscape that has made the island of Islay home to a growing band of the most prolific and revered whisky producers in the world. We’ve taken a trip to Daylesford Organic Farm in the Cotswolds, to James Cropper paper manufacturers in Yorkshire, spend a day tea tasting at Noma in Copenhagen with connoisseur Henrietta Lovell and to the fragrant fields of Grasse with Hermès to examine how the unique properties of the land can inform our appreciation of the senses.

We talk disorientation and sense confusion with Turner Prize-winning artist and musician Martin Creed and sensory experience designer Nelly Ben Hayoun (who has collaborated with everyone from Sigur Ros to NASA).

Elsewhere, we explore the notion of perfect palate with Michelin-starred chefs and award-winning sommeliers; meet bionic eye makers and cyborgs; examine the strange phenomenon of synaesthesia and explore moments of extreme heightened awareness.

And finally - Dom Bridges, founder of Margate brand Haeckels,
explains why the coast that provides the raw material for his company
is a constant source of inspiration and is his 'my hole-and-corner'.
